THE SPOTLIGHT: Feel-Good Soccer Movies | GOLDEN SHOES
The best soccer movies are typically about more than just soccer. The best soccer movies use soccer as the way to tell a bigger story – whether it’s romance, greed or fighting against the odds. In the case of Golden Shoes, the film provides undertones against bullying and finding inner strength, no matter the adversity or person’s age.
Even though soccer is the world’s most popular sport, there’s a surprising lack of films about this competitive, global game. In United States there are numerous films involving college and pro football, but again very little focused on the sport of soccer. The Producer of Golden Shoes, Norman Koza, wanted to change this by making a feel-good soccer movie in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan that would capture the interest of the United States and abroad. You will be hard pressed to find a movie with as much of a compelling storyline as Golden Shoes. You might even shed a few tears over this inspiring soccer movie.
GOLDEN SHOES: The Greatest Goal is Believing. As long as he could remember, eight-year-old Christian Larou (Christian Koza) dreamed of being a great soccer player like his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. When his father is deployed to Afghanistan and his mother is hospitalized, he pours himself into the game he loves. With the help of some very special shoes, can Christian lead his team to the championship, inspire an entire nation, and bring his family together again? Eric Roberts (THE DARK KNIGHT), Dina Meyer (STARSHIP TROOPERS), David DeLuise (“Wizards Of Waverly Place”), Montel Williams (“JAG”), Aedin Mincks (“A.N.T. Farm”), Vivica A. Fox (INDEPENDENCE DAY) and John Rhys-Davies (THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY) co-star in this feel-good family hit where believing in yourself is the greatest goal of all. Story by and Produced by Norman Koza. Screenplay by and Directed by Lance K.R. Kawas.
